What is a CIEE Semester In program?  

Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Semester In programs offer high school students a study abroad experience without disrupting their academic schedule. Following U.S.-aligned high school classes, students can design their own schedule, combining in-person instruction at a CIEE center with online offerings delivered by , one of the world’s leading accredited online high school programs.  

All CIEE Semester In programs include: 

  • Individual course selection before departure, allowing for open conversations regarding credit transfer approval from your student’s high school 
  • In-person classes with high school peers, taught in English by local CIEE instructors 
  • Online courses through , accredited by  
  • Placement with a local host family or in CIEE-selected group housing 

What courses can students take?  

Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Semester In programs include 4 pre-selected CIEE courses and 3 ASU classes of the student’s choice. Each student will also begin their semester at Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Global Gateway Academy, a 3-week orientation and leadership class at the start of the semester, alongside all other CIEE Semester In students in London, UK.

How is coursework completed?  

Students complete CIEE classes in person. The center facilitates each course, taught in English by local instructors.  

Students will complete online ASU courses at their CIEE center under the support and supervision of staff.  

How are the courses aligned with U.S. standards and curriculum?  

Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ intentionally designed each Semester In program to support credit transfer and on-time graduation for high school students. Our CIEE-taught courses align with national standards, including: 

  • C3 Framework for Social Studies State Standards and Common Core Standards 
  • Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) 
  • National Core Arts Standards 

Additionally, students can select 3 ASU courses that align with their academic schedules and goals. 

What is ASU Prep Global?  

Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Semester In students take three online courses through our partner , one of the world’s leading accredited online high school programs. Each ASU course integrates research-based methodologies and technologies into the classroom for a next-generation learning environment.  

As part of Arizona State University, ASU Prep Global also offers concurrent enrollment, allowing students to take college courses to earn both high school and university credit.  

How do credits transfer?
